Goodstart Early Learning Enterprise Agreement 2019

Teachers and Goodstart center leaders received a New Year`s surprise when they returned to work after their Christmas holidays. The IEU has been informed by Goodstart that teachers and centre principals will benefit from a 4.2% increase from February 2019 before negotiations on a new deal begin later this year. The IEU has successfully negotiated increases of 4.2% per year for teachers and centre principals in the current agreement, which expires in February this year. The last 4.2% increase in the current agreement was paid in February 2018. The IEU applauds Goodstart`s commitment to its employees. Negotiations on a new agreement will begin next year. IEUE will contact Goodstart members earlier this year to discuss any issues to be included in a new agreement. This issue related to an application under the Fair Work Act, 2009 to determine whether a company agreement with Goodstart Early Learning Limited is compatible with National Employment Standards (NES). The agreement applies to 16,000 employees of the employer`s 656 childcare facilities, which are based throughout Australia. The question was whether employers should pay annual leave in the event of an employee`s dismissal. The IEU has successfully negotiated annual increases of 4.2% for teachers and principals at the centre in the current agreement, which expires in February this year. The last 4.2% increase in the current agreement was paid in February 2018. Goodstart teachers and principals had a surprise for the new year when they returned to work after the Christmas holidays.

The IEU has been informed by Goodstart that teachers and principals at the centre will benefit from a 4.2% increase from February 2019 before negotiations on the introduction of a new agreement this year begin. This provision was read in the light of section 90(2) of the Fair Work Act 2009, which provides that in the event of dismissal, the amount due will be due when the employee has taken leave (if he or she has taken annual leave). The IEU applauds Goodstart`s commitment to its employees. Negotiations on a new agreement will begin in the new year. The IEU will contact Goodstart members earlier this year to discuss any issues they would like to see in a new agreement. This section is covered by the NES, which aims to establish national minimum standards and which, as such, cannot be excluded by an assignment, agreement or other instrument. However, particular attention was paid to the concepts of `amount that should have been paid to the worker if he had taken that leave` and it was considered that, in that particular agreement, the absence of leave expenses should be the applicable minimum standard.

Goodstart Early Learning is Australia`s largest provider of early learning. Casual workers will not receive the same wage increases as permanent employees in 2022 and 2023.

We will all get the same increase in our base rate, but in 2022 the occasional fee will be reduced from 1% to 22%, and then in 2023 to 21%. The Director`s annual allowance will be increased to $6365 for 0 to 39 seats, $7912 for 40 to 59 seats and $9577 for 60 or more seats. Together, you are strong. The start-up rate has been increased to reflect the rates paid to graduates employed by the New South Wales Department of Education. The increases to be paid in 2022 and 2023 are calculated based on the percentage increase in the minimum wage. Education officials advance an additional pay point on the salary scale. If the Director of Education has the highest pay point for his classification, he will receive an allowance of $1.40 per hour. .
